Heron

Big and beautiful, the new Heron is a perfect blend of the renowned K1 Expedition with the high performance Khatsalano. The Heron is 17' 7" long, has a 24" beam, and weighs 54 pounds. The longer waterline, narrower beam, and V-shaped hull make for a fast cruising kayak that performs well in open ocean conditions. Two stern hatches and a medium bow hatch make it easy to fill every available space with gear. 

The initial stability is a bit less than the K1, but the V-shaped hull gives the Heron excellent secondary stability and good maneuverability. The payload is 405 pounds, there is ample volume to carry gear and potable water for extended expeditions, and the large cockpit provides plenty of room for larger paddlers.

Standard equipment includes: integral cockpit coaming, surf rudder with pivot foot braces, double-coated nylon spray skirt, double-coated nylon sea sock, medium bow hatch, large and small stern hatches, full deck rigging, deck reinforcement strips, expedition seat with lumbar support, calf plates, travel-style backpack, repair kit, assembly DVD, and written instructions. Optional equipment includes: neoprene-deck/double-coated nylon tunnel spray skirt, all-neoprene spray skirt, a frame adaptation for mast, and a spinnaker sail rig.
